Craig Wilson

Craig has been involved in rugby since he was six years old. Craig’s rugby journey as a player has taken him from a rural club in England, Oakham Rugby Club, where he was a mini-rugby player through to being capped internationally for Hong Kong. Clubs in between have included academies at Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints and Nottingham; regional representative teams such as Scottish Exiles; and Hong Kong Scottish in the Hong Kong premiership.

As a coach, Craig has worked in varying roles in both community and performance environments. Roles have included pioneering Hong Kong rugby’s first hearing-impaired team and coaching the development of motor skills in special needs students. At the performance level, Craig led Hong Kong Rugby’s Academy, was a member of the coaching staff at two Junior World Trophies and coached at the international level with India’s national men’s and women’s sevens and fifteens teams.

Craig’s current role is with Yale University where he is the Head Coach for the Men’s and Women’s team. Craig is also the USA Women’s U20 Defense Coach.

Craig’s rugby experience puts him in a unique position as he has played with and coached players from the grassroots level to professional athletes. These experiences have allowed him to understand and relate to the different needs of players across the rugby spectrum and to tailor his coaching sessions accordingly.
